What is EAG?
The Economic Action Group operates in the economically disadvantaged communities of Trumbull and Mahoning Counties with a targeted focus on the center city of Youngstown, Ohio. The programming focus of EAG includes Economic Development and Entrepreneur Assistance. The strategic opportunities identified across these focus areas are of critical importance for overcoming the barriers to health and prosperity in the region as well as fulfilling an underserved and/or unmet center city need. The strategy proposed through EAG programming holds the potential to actualize economic stabilization and impact in a region long suffering from the devastation of the steel industry collapse in conjunction with the resulting legacy of extreme poverty.
O U R V I S I O N
To provide equitable access to economic development support services for public, private, and non-profit stakeholders in order to increase the economic competitiveness of downtown Youngstown, Ohio as a leader in placemaking, redevelopment, business retention, growth, and entrepreneurial support services.
O U R M I S S I O N
To provide the economic infrastructure and action to overcome capacity and resource gaps for the continued revitalization and investment in Downtown Youngstown. Our values are clustered in two focus areas – Economic Development and Entrepreneur Assistance. It is through this focus that EAG will work to transform the center city of Youngstown, Ohio. Since its inception, our mission has been to fill resource and skill gaps necessary to build upon the current momentum of the City of Youngstown toward sustainable community and economic development. The work of EAG primarily involves infrastructure planning and project development, public space design, projects, maintenance, real estate development and management, and collective marketing.
